Our position is plain: we want automated license plate readers out of Mountain Home, through non-renewal or removal decided in public by our own elected officials. We use lawful means only — records requests, public comment, contract and budget scrutiny, audits, petitions, and votes.

How to speak at a meeting

  1. 1Read the posted agenda a few days ahead and note where public comment falls.
  2. 2Arrive 15 minutes early and sign the public comment sheet if there is one.
  3. 3Plan for two to three minutes. Time yourself out loud at home first.
  4. 4Open with your name and that you live in Mountain Home or Baxter County.
  5. 5Make one ask: do not renew or expand the ALPR contract.
  6. 6Give one fact and one local concern. Skip the speech about surveillance in general.
  7. 7Bring a printed copy of your comment and hand it to the clerk for the record.
  8. 8Bring at least one neighbor. Ten calm residents change a room.
  9. 9Follow up by email the next day and ask for a written answer.

We may document damage or vandalism events where they appear in the public record, because they are part of the story. We never provide instructions for damaging, blocking, or disabling equipment, and we ask everyone in this group not to. It hands officials an easy reason to ignore the argument.
